My Approach to Counseling
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all-approach to therapy.
Every person who walks into my office has a different story\. Your childhood experiences, relationships, personality, support system, strengths, challenges, values, and goals are unique to you\.
Because of that, I tailor treatment to your individual needs.
Depending on what brings you to counseling, I may incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed therapy, mindfulness, emotional-regulation strategies, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and other evidence-based interventions.
But therapy is about more than techniques.
It is also about connection.
I want you to have a place where you can be honest—even when what you need to say is uncomfortable.
Sometimes counseling involves processing painful experiences\. Sometimes it involves learning new skills\. Sometimes it involves recognizing that you have been carrying responsibilities that never belonged to you.
And sometimes therapy involves discovering that survival skills that once protected you are now preventing you from living the life you want.
My job is to help you understand those patterns and determine what you want to do differently.
